Awards and Achievement

    • Founder (1968) and director of CONNECTION, INC., a non profit community development
      organization serving the poor in the Cincinnati, Ohio region.
    • 1982 National Design Award from the Society of American Registered Architects for design of
      Dental Clinic and Offices in Beaver, PA.
    • 1986 National Design Award from the Society of American Registered Architects for design of
      Bradford Ranger Office for the US Department of Agriculture, Forest Service, at the Allegheny
      National Forest.
    • 1995 National Design Award from the Society of American Registered Architects for design of
      Cypher Professional Building in Butler, PA
    • 1986 award from the PA Federation of Historical Societies for the Historic Resources Survey of
      Harmony, PA. (Planning Survey of ALL structures in the Borough from 1804 to the present.)
    • 1999 National Award for Preservation and Restoration of Freight Station in Beaver, PA, to
      convert to museum of local history.
    • Guest Critique, University of Cincinnati School of Architecture and Planning.
    • Guest Lecturer, Community College of Butler County, on Design Process, and Slippery Rock
      University on the National Register Process
    • Listed in the 'Who's Who in the East'.
    • Research of 53 lock stations on the Ohio River resulted in the placement of Lock Station #6, the
      Merrill Lock and Dam, on the National Register. Buildings are the oldest remaining lock
      structures on the Ohio River Canal implemented by Col. Merrill. (Col. Merrill designed the
      buildings.)
    • Recipient of Gold Medal Award from the Society of American Registered Architects, the highest
      award given for service to the profession.
    • Consultant to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania for renovations to the Feast Hall and Rapp
      House at Old Economy Village, Ambridge, PA and the Ft. Pitt Museum, Pittsburgh, PA. Also
      Consultant for various projects at Old Economy and Ft. Pitt for work under a 5 year professional
      services agreement administered by John Bowie Associates.
    • Architectural Consultant to the Clarion County Historical Society, Mars Area Historical Society,
      Beaver Area Historical Society, Butler County Historical Society, Historic Harmony, Inc., Rapp-
