Cranberry Community Presbyterian Church
Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, PA

The Cranberry United Presbyterian Church is in its second phase of a four phase project. This office designed the original building in 1986, and has just completed the design and construction of a $1.7 million addition that was dedicated on Good Friday, 2000.

The original design of the church is the glass area to the right in the lower right photograph. The new additions are to the left in the photo and completely surround the old sanctuary. The original building had seating for approx. 200 while the new sanctuary (an expansion of the original sanctuary) has seating for 450.

The third phase will involve the addition of a new sanctuary seating 800, and a large fellowship hall. The existing sanctuary will be converted to classrooms, additional toilets and additional office area.

The current addition was designed as part of a master plan that included the design of the third phase. This enabled the township to approve the land use, parking, and storm water management area for the future development so as to conserve funds during the phase three addition.

If seen from above, the final form of the building will be of a cross on a hill. This conceptual plan was very desirable to the congregation.

Rev. Tom Thornton and his very hardworking committee were involved in every aspect of the design and planning of this facility. The master plan phase looked at a number of different configurations of the program before this final configuration was settled on.
