Restoration of Great House
Old Economy Village, Ambridge, PA

This building houses the majority of the delicate storage materials of the Museum. The house was the residence of George and Frederick Rapp, principals of the Harmony Society. It is constructed in the style of a Philadelphia townhouse. Extensive renovation work was previously accomplished in the 1930's and 1960's.

Work by this office includes pointing of brick, new roofs, repair of damaged dormers and porches, structural repairs, drainage repairs, and other miscellaneous repairs. This building was analyzed by Roger A. Weaver , Architect to determine its condition and the priority of work to be accomplished with the limited funds available. All work was to the Secretary of the Interiors Standards for Historic Preservation. Project is complete (2001). Client was the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission and the Department of General Services, Harrisburg, PA
