Residence of John and Nikki Wise
Butler County, PA

The original frame farmhouse is to the left in the above photo. This farmhouse was constructed in the 1870’s by a direct ancestor of John Wise. Our directive was to make appropriate additions to the original small building and not harm the visual primacy of the original house. Two separate additions have been incorporated. The first is just visible in the photo below left (the far right gable). This addition added a master bath and kitchen. The most recent addition accomplished in 1999 (to the right below right and fully visible in the photo below left) added two bedrooms, a sun room, work area, and full basement.

The design of the addition was based upon design motifs that would have been prevalent approx. 20 years after the original was built. This ‘plain’ Victorian design was set back from the older portion so as to not impose on it. Coloration and materials were coordinated.
